New phone charging business supports The Precious Lives appeal in memory of Joe Way

About Cornwall Chargepoint: James from Cornwall chargepoint said "We provide emergency mobile phone charging machines to businesses throughout Cornwall. For £1 our machines provide customers with a 15 minute fast charging boost to all the major mobile phones (Nokia, Samsung, LG, Sony Erricison, iPhone, Blackberries) as well as the iPod."

“I want my company to be part of Cornwall.....it's in our name. As such I aim to help one local charity a year and as you know my major idea was to place a machine at Treliske hospital. Unfortunately for this year that can't be done. However I am happy to help in any other way, namely by placing Joe's advert on my machines across Cornwall”.

James also added “I lost my mother to cancer about 18 months ago which re-inforced in me the value of life which in my opinion is too easy to lose sight of from day to day. Joe's story sends a life affirming message out, and quite simply it needs to be told. I also know that Joe’s website is specifically raising money for the Precious Lives appeal which I think is the most important charity in Cornwall today and one charity that I am sure my own mother would have whole heartedly embraced”.

NHS community services use Joe Way’s story to help train carers

Megan and Joe at Bristol HospitalThe 8 minute DVD telling Joe’s story using TV and radio interviews as well as video and photos is to be used by Paediatric Community Services as part of their training programme for carers and possible also for recruitment.

Allie Mavor who was Joe’s joint agency worker and now helps to fund raise for Joe brought the idea up of using the DVD as a training aid.

Joan Gowans who is the Paediatric Community Services Manager knew Joe and his family from their time in Treliske and she was also involved in putting together his care package which helped keep him at home during his final months.

Joan said “The DVD encaptured Joe's vitality and personality and I feel privileged to be able to use it in staff training. I hope in the future to be able to use it as part of the recruitment process so that potential staff can see the types of children that they will work with and how privileged they are to be a part of their lives”.

Joe in HDU Matt Way Joe’s Dad said “The DVD has been edited to a professional standard and has been used at corporate fundraising, School events and other fundraising events as well as featuring on Joe’s website. This is great news that his story will hopefully inspire carers who become so key in making sure family’s as well as the child are supported through difficult times”.

Scott Dickinson a family friend who designs Joes posters and banners spent hours editing the photo’s and video to match in with a radio interview Joe’s Dad did for BBC radio Cornwall he has also put on some extras of other TV interviews and photo slide shows.

Claire Joe’s mum said “it’s very powerful to watch but as always with Joe’s story you feel inspired to do something positive rather than sad”.

Life can be a tremendous struggle at times and the strength Joe showed gives us all hope. Having lost my mum prematurely to illness myself and embarked on various fund raising exercises for St Julia’s Hospice I know how important it is. I was only too happy to help with the DVD duplication”.

P&J print from Newquay printed all the case covers and as always have been very excited to be part of a new way to get Joe’s story out there.

The three main businesses from Newquay area P&J print, SWESCO signs, IT-OK and Three S Films from Penzance all have their logo’s in the film and on the case as supporters of the Joe’s story.
