Paddle for Joe

The original Paddle for Life started after lifeguards from Fistral Beach held a Joe Way Memorial Paddle in 2008 which raised £850 for charity. This year the Newquay Paddle was the first of four in the country and was a tremendous success. Over 300 spectators attended to cheer on the 90 paddlers who were raising money for 17 different charities.

Little Harbour Turf Cutting

Over 700 supporters of Children’s Hospice South West marked an important milestone this weekend as they joined together at the site for the new children’s hospice near St Austell.

The Precious Lives Appeal, to raise funds to build this children’s hospice for Cornwall and Plymouth, has come a long way in just two years, with a tremendous response from local people since its launch in September 2007. Now at the half way point, many of these supporters came together on Saturday to mark all that has been achieved so far and to look ahead to the next steps in the exciting journey.

On Saturday 26th September, supporters from around Cornwall, Plymouth, and other parts of the South West united for a special site dedication and turf cut ceremony at the beautiful Porthpean site where Little Harbour, the new children’s hospice, will be built.

Bristol Midnight Walk...

Noel Edmonds at the Bristol Midnight WalkOver 650 ladies took part in the 7 mile circular walk at Midnight through Bristol City Centre on Friday 4th September, and it is thought to have raised in the region of £70,000 which is truly amazing. CHSW said “a huge thank you to all of those who took part or helped out on the night, it wouldn't have been the same without you”.

Rebecca Dee who’s daughter has Angelmans syndrome walked for Joe and even found his candle that she made in between all the others, she has been a real friend of the family.
