Raising funds for Joe Way’s Fundflower appeal
Creative Memories is proud to support Joe’s ‘Fundflower’
appeal as part of the Precious Lives appeal, to raise funds for a children’s hospice
in Cornwall.
The company got to know Joe through his grandma Barbara Sharples, who sits on the
Creative Memories Global Advisory Board, through her personal albums people in Creative
Memories world-wide feel they know Joe and have been inspired by his courage and
his family. Creative Memories’ mission is to show families how to preserve their
memories and stories; we know that Barbara’s albums have become precious and through
them she has captured the spirit of her grandson and family. We share Creative Memories
in homes around the world and hope that friends of Joe will also be interested in
finding out how to preserve their memories for future generations.
In the month of October, Creative Memories Consultants are supporting the charity
at many of their events. The company is donating £1 for every True 12x12 album sold
at Creative Memories parties, and our independent consultants have many other ideas
for raising additional funds. Our aim is to raise at least £3,000.
If you would like to help raise funds for the appeal, while enjoying a fun evening
with your family and friends in your home, learning how to preserve your family
memories please ring 01635 294700 or visit our website www.creativememories.co.uk
and we will put you in touch with a local consultant to organise your party.
Phil Donogue from Pimpernel Associates who put together the hour long power point
presentation about Joe’s story said “The launch presentation went down really well
- you could hear a pin drop and many of the audience were in tears and took advantage
of the tissues we had ready at the door as they left for the lunch break”.
“After lunch, we told them how we would be supporting the appeal and everyone in
the room was up for doing whatever it took to raise the money. We announced that
we were giving them a free copy of the Poster and Car Sticker in their goody bag,
and someone immediately made a suggestion that was universally agreed to that if
we provided a collecting box at the door, they would be happy to buy them. We had
a hat at the door and at the end of the day we had collected £205 (from 200+ people)
- what a great start to the appeal”.
Linda Chadwick Creative memories Field Development Manager said “Joe has captured
the Consultants' hearts and their imaginations… and I am so excited about how
this is developing”.
Joe Way hits the surf at Surfstock
We will be attending Saturday’s event through
the day and into the night highlighting Joe’s story and hoping people will be inspired
to read his website and to enjoy the chance to win two fantastic prizes.
We will be running a lucky number draw for £2 per chance to wine a Co cola exclusive
surfboard and a kid’s petrol quad.
The quad was donated by Alistair and Ken who own “Bridge End Garage” in Wadebridge.
Ken Lane said “we are lucky to be in a position not to need the hospice for our
own families and cannot image how difficult it must without this facility which
Cornwall needs”
Alistair Coad said “We decide to help out and spoke to Precise Lives who put us
in contact with Matt and Claire and after reading Joes story we where only to pleased
to meet them and hand over the quad”
The two prizes have a total value of £900 so the team at Surfstock headed up by
Allie Mavour who was Joe’s joint agency co-coordinator and a St Agnes babe are ready
for action.
Alec Short from surf stock said “the surfing community have be moved by Joe’s story
and we are all behind getting his story out there so others can be inspired”

Quiksilver Skins Contest “King of the Groms” and Spencer Hargraves back www.joeway.co.uk
and raise £800
Once again the surfing community stepped up to
remember Newquay boy Joe Way by raising money and promoting his story to inspire
others.
Sue Butler and Spencer Hargraves mum Chris Hargraves walked Fistral beach asking
for donations in return for a quicksilver t-shirt.
The dynamic babes said “The contest along with the weather was great and we found
so many people on the beach ready to help and asking about the website it was a
great day for everyone”
The collection continued from a previous event with Quicksilver and Matt Joe’s Dad
came along to the evening event to meet to Spencer and his family and say a few
words of thanks to all the surfers, organisers and Groms who where rocking.
Matt said “to see all these people helping and having such a good time was fantastic,
thanks to everyone who have kept us on track with a fundraising target of £1000
per week since the website launched four weeks after Joe died”
As
the money was presented to Matt surfers where still shoving notes into the bucket
and cheering.
32 Pro Surfers, went head to head until only one man was standing to receive his
healthy prize money of £700 PLUS a classic Gibson Guitar. Rock n Roll!
Nathan Phillips and Alan Stokes are just some of the UK's pro's competiting
over the weekend.
Local surfing legend Spencer Hargraves, is the Contest Director who's brainchild
this inaugural Skins event is, said "This Skins event will be the first time
Newquay has seen an event like this for a long time. It'll be great for the
surfers and spectators alike and its nice to be able to run this kind of event so
the surfers don’t have a lot of pressure and can really go for it !!! It will bring
surfing home to Fistral on the biggest weekend of the year. Surfers can really rack
up the money, so they'll be stoked to have an opportunity to have fun and compete
in this type of contest, which will really keep the spectators on the beach interested
too.”
