Joe Way inspires £600 of fund raising in Sheffield for another Children's Hospice

Nottingham based lingerie and lovestuff company, Blue Bella are delighted to announce they raised over £600 in memory of Joe Way at their ‘Boudoir Burlesque’ evening at Nottingham’s The Pearl bar and restaurant last month. The funds will be directed to local Children’s Hospice, Rainbow’s in Loughborough.

Guests were treated to an evening of fashion and flirtation by hosts Blue Bella and special guests. The evening began with a lingerie fashion show by Blue Bella and a Corsetry fashion show by award winning corsetieres Eternal Spirits. Entertainment was provided by the enchanting burlesque performer Cherry Deville with her rather special performance of the ‘Go Go Lobster Woman’! During the entertainment guests were treated to Chinese delicacies and cocktails by the fabulous venue The Pearl.

The evening ended with a fundraising raffle and then ladies were invited upstairs to the Blue Bella bargain boutique where they could purchase discounted Blue Bella products with all profits going to Rainbows. The ensuing stampede helped raise much of the funds!

The Blue Bella team were all inspired by Joe’s amazing story and spirit after meeting Joe’s grandmother Barbara in September and intend to continue their fund raising efforts into 2009. Matt, Joe's dad said "Our hopes for Joe have been to tell his story and promote the symptoms of Angelmans Syndrome, Steven Johnson Syndrome and offer hope to other people who have or know of someone who has these conditions".

Claire Way, Joes mum said "We also wanted to give hope with Joes amazing story so others may be inspired so have a company based in the North East raise money in memory of Joe has been amazing. Well done to all the girls”.

Book pledge for Joe Way hands out books to local children’s organisations!

The local co-coordinator of this scheme for Usborne is Tracey Nesbitt, who is an Independent Usborne Schools Representative and owner of Nurture Day Nursery and Pre School.

Tracey Nesbitt owner and operator of Nurture Nursery along with Sadie asked local businesses to make a small donation to buy a book or books on behalf and in memory of Joe Way for the Precious Life’s Appeal to increase their reading resources for children in the local area.

We ended up with over 40 books; we received donations from Bedtimes, Car vogue, Bee & Bee, Blush, Hillcrest Hotel, The Magic Bus, Minky Publicity’ Jimmy’s plumbing and the Sugar Lounge.

All the books had a sticker put onto them saying they had been donated by Newquay businesses in memory of Joe Way.

All books donated have been shared by Joe’s parents amongst the following local organisations Treliske hospital paediatric wards, The Bishops school (where Joes sister Megan and Tracy’s daughter attend), The Kernow school in Redruth which is for children with special needs as well as the Ronald McDonald House in Bristol which house families when their children are ill at The Bristol Children’s Hospital where Joe’s parents spent several months.

Emma Reed a ward manager from Treliske who often oversaw Joe’s care excepted the books and caught up Claire Way Joe’s Mum.

Claire said “this was a great idea of Tracy’s, we know they worked hard to achieve this and it was great fun sorting through the books to give out”
