Joe Way banner takes a 6000km round trip for Precious Lives...
To assist www.joeway.co.uk in raising money for the Precious Lives appeal, Wavecrest
Scuba has taken the web address to New Depths. Mark and a few divers will be taking
the Joe Way Banner on a dive with them. They hope to raise awareness of the important
work both the precise lives and www.joeway.co.uk are doing.
Mark Rayner owner of Wavecrest said “We haven't managed to get any in the sea
yet, due to poor conditions, so we decided to take the banner on a 6000 KM road
trip from Orkney to Portugal”
Mark added “we left Rock on the 11th heading to Scrabster just over 1000km away.
The following day we caught the ferry to Orkney loading brown crab. We then left
for Portsmouth on our way to Setabul just under 3000km away. Stopping in Setabul
for 24 hours we then departed for Rock arriving the 18th.
Matt Joes Dad added “Joe’s banners and stickers are being taken all over the world
and people are having great fun doing it”.
Claire Joe’s mum said: “It’s been great with so many people enjoying fun ways to
get our son’s story out there. The website is there to inspire other families and
provide information on the conditions Joe had”

Finding Joe Way, not nemo and Oysters for all!
The
Falmouth Oyster Company and The Falmouth Bay Seafood Café are supporting www.joeway.co.uk
by sponsoring the Falmouth dive banner and promoting Joes story at the Falmouth
Oyster Festival.
Valerie Thomson said “Joe’s website was very moving and the banner off the Falmouth
coast is great for us to be involved in, Joe’s parents where very excited with promoting
their sons story at a big local event”
Claire Way (Joe’s mum) said “We are really looking forward to this event as it will
open up Joe’s story to so many new people”
October 16th to 19th - Falmouth Oyster and Real Ale Festival - Link To Website
Falmouth Oyster Festival celebrates the start of the oyster season and the diversity
and quality of Cornish Seafood and in particular, one of the last remaining traditional
oyster fisheries. The festival will open with a cookery master-class with a celebrity
chef followed by a packed programme of cookery demonstrations by leading local chefs,
oysters, seafood, wine and ale, children’s shell painting, sea shanties, town parade,
live music and marquees packed with Cornish produce and crafts. The festival has
broad appeal and is a must for all oyster, seafood and marine heritage enthusiasts
- come and enjoy lunch and savour the atmosphere!
Joe’s
website will be promoted at the event along with a draw and the opportunity for
visitors to donate to Precise Lives in memory of Joe whilst enjoying the best of
Oysters Cornwall has to offer
Wavecrest Scuba is a Newquay based dive school that specialise in small group training.
Set up in 2005 it teaches PADI courses from Discover Scuba for beginners to all
levels of training and safari dives for qualified divers.

yet , when we went out the other day the visibility was about a foot , not great
for photograph but we should be out again this week diving on a wreck in Falmouth
this week its a 25 meter dive on to the SS Stanwood”
“We will then attach the banner to the wreck so other divers can see it”
Matt Joes Dad added “The idea is for Divers to take photos next to the banner under
water and email them to the website”.
Portsmouth runners raise money and profile of Newquay boy Joe Way
Hanna
Kingston and Emma Standing are both nurses at Basingstoke they learnt about Joe
through a friend Katie Garner who was one Joe’s nurses in Cornwall.
The running duo said “We are really pleased to raise money and awareness of Joe’s
story through his website; we often see the family when we take surfing trips to
Cornwall with Katie”.
Katie said “Joe was a special boy and the more people who read his story the more
people he can keep inspiring”.
A family friend John Simmons is also running for Joe which will be the second time
he has done so at the same event.
Last
time John raised money so Joe could have a projector for his room. This time sadly
John will be running in Joe’s memory to raise money for his website www.joeway.co.uk
which aims to raise £25k towards building a children’s hospice in Cornwall.
Claire way Joes mum said “It’s great that the girls and John are running for Joe,
good luck”

mile road running event, the BUPA Great South Run, on Sunday 28 October 2007.
A celebration of a fast, flat and scenic course, complemented by a superb atmosphere
has propelled the BUPA Great South Run to being one of the most popular running
events in the UK. It's an event that is just as suited to the international
elite as it is the recreational jogger.
The BUPA Great South Run also features 'ChampionChip timing', which ensures
every runner will receive a completely accurate running time.
Penryn & Rip Curl School Sport Partnership Surf Championship
Friday September 26th, 09:30 - 16:00, Gwithian Beach
The
Penryn School Sport Partnership is staging the Penryn / Rip Curl School Sport Partnership
Surf Championship at Gwithian Beach on Friday, September 26th.
The 5th Annual Penryn SSP Surf Championship, which had taken place from 9:30 – 4pm,
is one of the biggest schools competitions in the country attracting over 100 competitors
each year.
The young people from across Kerrier and Carrick secondary schools had a day out
from their regular school curriculum to compete for individual and school team honours.
The event is run in partnership with Rip Curl and Gwithian Surf Academy who donated
the prizes.
The winners where invited to the Penryn Sports Partnership Surf Academy where they
will be coached by one of the country's top instructors – Tyson Greenaway.
Louie
Mavour who has collected funds at several events for Joe Way entered using one of
Joe’s Dad’s boards proudly displaying a five foot www.joeway.co.uk sticker on the
board.
The 8 foot Mal affectionately know as “The Pig” due to its large stringer and ability
to get battered and always survive was well ridden by Louie in his first ever competition
which landed a very respectable third place.
Louie aged 12 from St Agnes got involved in Joe’s charity work with his mum Allie
who was Joe’s joint agency worker who co-ordinated the various agency’s involved
in his care as well as supporting the parents.
Louie’s next competition is at St Agnas where he will again be flying the flag for
the website.
